Bula Outsourcing was honored to be a major sponsor for the inaugural Women in Tech (WinTech) event, hosted by Outsource Fiji. This significant event took place at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva and was aimed at celebrating and empowering women in Fiji’s technology sector.

The outsourcing industry in Fiji plays a crucial role in fostering female participation in tech-related fields, with over 68 percent of its workforce being women. However, despite this progress, gender disparities continue to exist across the broader tech industry. WinTech serves as an important platform to bridge this gap by providing opportunities for women to upskill, connect with industry leaders, and receive recognition for their contributions.

Outsource Fiji Executive Director, Sagufta Janif, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating, “The WinTech event not only aims to celebrate the achievements of the women in Fiji’s tech space, but also to empower the next generation of female leaders and bridge the persistent gender gap in the industry.” She further emphasized the necessity of providing platforms for women to grow professionally, adding, “We continue to see gender disparities in the broader tech space, which is why we see it imperative to create platforms for women to upskill themselves, as well as be recognised for their contributions.”

Bula Outsourcing CEO, Josie Prasad, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to gender inclusivity in the tech industry, stating, “Sponsoring the Women in Tech event showcases our commitment to creating a more inclusive tech space in Fiji. We believe in providing opportunities for women to showcase their skills, connect with industry leaders, and gain valuable insights.”

The project was successfully delivered in partnership with Outsource Fiji and key stakeholders, including ANZ, Pepper Advantage, Westpac, Mobil Oil, Pacific Energy, AusTrade, and U.S. Trade. The outcome equipped women professionals with technical skills, enhancing their advancements and value in the industry. It also fostered women-led start-ups in the digital space and created valuable partnerships between stakeholders and women in technology.

Environmental Stewardship

Mangrove Planting Project

At Bula Outsourcing, we recognise the importance of environmental sustainability and actively participate in initiatives that help preserve and protect our natural surroundings. In August 2024, we proudly collaborated with the United Nations Association of Fiji for a Community Impact Project, focusing on reducing carbon footprint by adopting innovative strategies. The project included leadership workshops that provided mentorship and quality education, alongside a key initiative to restore the mangrove ecosystem in Korotogo, Sigatoka, as a measure to combat carbon emission.

As part of our contribution to environmental conservation, our team joined forces with other volunteers to plant approximately 15,000 mangrove trees along the coastline. Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting against coastal erosion, supporting marine life, and mitigating climate change. Our efforts in this project were driven by our belief in corporate responsibility and sustainable development.

Bula Outsourcing’s Managing Director, Josie Prasad, emphasized our commitment, stating: “This initiative is a crucial step in addressing environmental challenges, and as a company, we believe it is essential for corporate entities to take an active role in conservation efforts.”

The outcome of this initiative showcased a unified approach to sustainable development, setting a precedent for future generation, and proved that with unity, innovation, and leadership, we can build resilience and progress toward a net zero future.

The Do-Good Initiative

Empowering Local Youth

At Bula Outsourcing, we believe in fostering opportunities that create lasting change in our communities. Our Do-Good Initiative, launched in July 2023, was designed to support and empower local youth by providing resources and encouragement to help them thrive.

Through this initiative, we proudly partnered with the Muanikau Youth Group, donating essential sports equipment to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and the development of young talent. We understand the value of sports in shaping character, discipline, and fostering a sense of unity, and we wanted to ensure that the youth in our community had the tools they needed to grow.

During the handover, the group’s President, Mr. Isikeli, expressed his appreciation: “This generous contribution will inspire and empower our young individuals, fostering unity among youths and families.” His words reinforced the importance of supporting young people, and we at Bula Outsourcing are honoured to be a part of this journey.

Bula Outsourcing’s Book Drive

Spreading the Joy of Reading

At Bula Outsourcing, we believe that education is the foundation of opportunity. That’s why we launched our Book Drive Initiative, dedicated to providing books and educational resources to children and schools in need.

Through this initiative, we collected and donated hundreds of books to underserved schools, community centres, and hospitals, ensuring that children have access to quality reading materials that inspire learning and creativity.

Our Book Drive Initiative extended its reach to the WOW Kids Foundation and CWM Hospital, where books were donated to bring comfort and knowledge to young patients. Reading not only helps children develop critical thinking and literacy skills, but it also provides them with a sense of hope, imagination, and inspiration during difficult times.
